DK Tiles for Rainmeter by TheMooDude DK Tiles for Rainmeter by TheMooDude
I've been fiddling with a custom theme for Rainmeter for a little while now, inspired by Windows 8 and Metro style.

I've provided a few tiles as seen in the preview, but also brief instructions on easily making your own to launch whatever you like.

Many of the images are a result of Google Image search. If I've accidentally used your work without realising please let me know and I'll either remove it from the package or credit you happily!

Comments and suggestions are welcome!

And one last thing- if anyone can think of a better name for this package feel free to let me know! :D

FYI: Location links are based on Windows 7 Libraries; so if you use custom libraries, or are on Vista or earlier, you'll need to change the paths for them. Info on doing so is in the readme! :)

Another Note: I've made and tested this using a 1080p 16:9 resolution, so just how well it displays on smaller resolutions is a little bit unknown. But best of luck to any who try :)

Coool, not on the metro style but i guess that is not for everyone. Check my metro tiles too!

Ive start to metronize all the cool software icons out there. Ill make them systematically, releasing big pack for each software category. Ive started "bashfully" with 3D software field. They came out awesome and ultimate quality Check them here [link]

Now Im focused on Office , Productivity, OCR, Desktop publishing stuff

Hey mate, I really love this skin. Very well done! I was wondering if you could help me out creating a shortcut to dota 2 in the game folder, that would be most appreciated! I dont know alot about creating new stuff and I guess entering the steam and then the game might be tricky.
This is what I think is the shortcut to the game
C:\Users\FLowis\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Steam
Thx again

If it's a Steam game then the shortcut path will be somewhere in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\". I don't own Dota 2 so I can't check the specific path, but chances are there'll be a dota2 folder in there, with the game's *.exe. That'll be the file you want to use as your path.

Welcome. I have a question. How to make the tiles were still clear, and not only on mouseover. Thank you. Poorly written in English, but I hope you understand me

Hey man. I really like this theme/skin! But it doesn't seem to work out for me :( I'm extracting the files into the "C:\Users\Oscar\Documents\Rainmeter\Skins" skin folder, and refreshing rainmeter, but nothing happens. I really wanna try it out, it looks awesome. Please respond if u think u have a solution.

Thank you for the compliments.

You have to enable each skin that you want to use. After copying the folder to your skins directory run RainBrowser, which should let you browse the individual skins included in this package. You can then select which skin you want to load, and in which size.

finally i found this...truly this is great
how can i change the opacity of the tiles?
Reply
:iconthemoodude:
TheMooDude Featured By Owner Nov 11, 2012
Thanks for the nice words. To change the opacity you'll need to change a variable in each inc file - largetile.inc, mediumtile.inc, and smalltile.inc. The line to change is "opacity=155". Simply replace "155" with your desired opacity between 0 (transparent) and 255 (opaque). I think that's the way round, the 0-255 scale may be reversed, I can't remember, but fiddle with that and I'm sure you'll find out soon enough. :-) Don't forget to refresh the skins each time you update it to see your changes reflected. Hope that helps.

How to I modify the tiles? D:

You'll need to go into the respective tile's folder and change the tile.jpg image to whatever you want to use. As for the title and the link you should be able to middle-click on the tile and have it open a small file in notepad- just edit title and link, and it should all be fine.

Unzip the "DK Tiles" folder to Documents\Rainmeter\Skins\, then load them using the Rainmeter Manager.

Great skin. How do you change the font size so small tiles can be read easier
Reply
:iconthemoodude:
TheMooDude Featured By Owner Feb 18, 2012
Thanks, glad you like it.

You can change the font size for each tile size. In the "DK Tiles" root folder you'll find 3 files- smalltile.inc, mediumtile.inc, and largetile.inc. These control many aspects of the small, medium, and large tiles respectively. Open the desired file in notepad. Scroll to the bottom, and the third line from the end will read "FontSize=18". Simply change the "18" to your desired point size.

Although that said; if you do make the text smaller; you may also need to adjust the "Y=125" line (by increasing the number" to realign the smaller text with the bottom of the tile. This would be trial and error as I'm unsure how many pixels the new font-size would take up. Don't forget to refresh your skins when you make a change to the file to see the change(s) reflected in the skin.

I' m loving it all the way!!!!!!
just one question....
i want to link a mod from battlefield 2 to a tile, but when I edit the tile.inc the game doesn't start.
This is what it looks like:
[Variables]
path="C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/xpack +ignoreAsserts 1
title=""

is it not possible to use " +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/xpack +ignoreAsserts 1" after a .exe?

Thank you very much

Hmm that is a strange one. Have you tried either:

path="C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/xpack +ignoreAsserts 1"

or

path=""C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/xpack +ignoreAsserts 1"

If they don't work then I'm not entirely sure. I've never needed to run an application with arguments from a tile... which, now I think about it, does surprise me.

Thanks for a fast reply :D,

I tried both but with no prevail.
What did work was if i link the tile.inc to a .bat file in the game folder and put path="C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/xpack +ignoreAsserts 1 in the .bat file.
Now it works.

The bat file text looks like this:

@echo off
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/xpack +ignoreAsserts 1

Thanks for your help and let me know if you find a better way. I'll do the same.
